A Message From The Owner

Hello, my name is Dr. Jessica Hsu and I humbly welcome you to Kirkland Periodontics & Implants. I sincerely thank you for taking the time to review our webpage. Kirkland Periodontics & Implants is a dream of mine come to fruition, born of childhood fantasies and adolescent ambition, and I am so thankful to share in its reality with you.

My passion for dentistry started long before I started dental school and learned the meaning of terms like “periodontitis” and “implantology”. My passion started with me in the dental chair as a patient. As a child, growing up with a pediatric dentist who did not believe in patient education and relied on physical exertion to keep patients sitting combined with free lollipops as bribes, I had no shortage of dental anxiety. I was passionate in my desire to avoid the dentist! However, as my visits continued and the number of my fillings grew, I started to feel frustrated. It seemed contradictory and inevitable that my dental health was on a slow decline.

It was not until much later, when I was in college and I met my mentor, Dr. Frank Sung, that I began to learn how preventable dental decay and gum disease was. When I came to accept this, I was embarrassed. But now I realize, I was not and am not alone. Too many of my peers have expressed the same mysticism and disillusionment when facing their dental care. This feeling of resignation is not a patient’s embarrassment, but rather is a dentist’s call to action. It is my responsibility as healer and healthcare provider to have the patience to answer your questions and show you results. My promise is to you.

Knowledge and understanding is power over fear. Learning the “why” and the “how” empowered me with the ability to impact my own dental health trajectory for the better and I hope to share this power with my patients. My passion has matured into a passion for preventative medicine and for conservative dental treatment.

Periodontal disease may be a chronic condition but I will be your partner and your advocate, your personal trainer and your drill sergeant, your doctor and your therapist. Missing teeth may impact your ability to smile with confidence, to chew that succulent piece of steak, or to whistle your favorite tune but I will be your reconstructive surgeon and your aesthetician. Together with our partner dentists, my commitment is to you, as it is to them, to ensure that you are well cared for and supported.

Warmest regards,

Jessica Hsu, DDS
